A backup center is a valuable thing in the NBA nowadays. A seven foot backup center who averaged 9.4 points a game last season to go with 6.4 rebounds per game with a good .584 true shooting percentage, plus grabbing 16.1 percent of the available rebounds when he is on the court. He’s 28 and only in his fifth season in the league. Mozgov has been with the Nuggets ever since he was a part of the Carmelo Anthony trade a few years back.
According to Christopher Dempsey of the Denver Post, the Nuggets are still receiving calls about the possibility of trading Mozgov.
During the past calendar year, Mozgov arguably has been the Nuggets’ most-coveted trade asset. Teams called last winter and throughout the summer. That’s not likely to change, because with a $4.6 million salary, Mozgov is one of the best bangs for the buck in the NBA…
“He’s been my favorite,” Shaw said. “Just because as a coach, he’s kind of like a coach’s dream. He does everything that you ask him to do. It’s nice to see when it pays off.”
I don’t see the Nuggets moving Mozgov, especially since Javale McGee might not be ready to go until after the season starts. The Nuggets though need to keep Mozgov because at that rate, with his produtciton he is a steal and might actually have a team send them something ludicrous for Mozgov. There have been crazier trades before.
