Now that the Oklahoma City Thunder have fired former head coach Scott Brooks, the question of where he will go next has arisen. Brooks is a great developmental coach. During his tenure in OKC, he helped develop players like Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Serge Ibaka. However, it is time for the Thunder to move on. Now that their players have developed into a team capable of contending for a championship, they need a coach who can lead them there. Brooks isn’t that guy. He just isn’t good enough at drawing up plays. He’s a valuable coach, but he isn’t the right fit for the Thunder right now. It’s time for Brooks to take his developmental skills to a different, younger team.
Per the Twitter page of TNT’s David Aldridge,
Denver/Orlando potential landing spots 4 Brooks. Would guess Magic’s improving roster intrigues. But lots of folks interested in ORL gig.

Denver and Orlando would both be excellent fits for Brooks. They have the young talent that he’s so good at developing.
The Nuggets’ young players include Kenneth Faried, Jusuf Nurkic, Gary Harris, and Jamaal Franklin. The Magic’s young players include Elfrid Payton, Victor Oladipo, Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, Maurice Harkless, Tobias Harris, Devyn Marble, and Evan Fournier.
If I’m either of these teams’ GMs I’d go after Scott Brooks. The ideal fit for Brooks here is Orlando, as their roster is overflowing with young, talented players. Brooks has proven that he’s one of the best in the league at developing young players like those on Orlando’s roster. Magic GM Rob Hennigan should do everything he can to recruit Brooks. It may help that Hennigan spent four years working for the Thunder alongside Brooks.
