Sacramento Kings All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins was recently suspended for one game after yelling at head coach George Karl during a game. Cousins has made it clear that he believes that the decision to suspend him was not made by the Kings’ upper echelon, but by Karl.
Cousins is not hiding the fact that he is frustrated. He says that he is not the only frustrated player though, writes Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee:
“I know for a fact there’s a lot of frustration in this locker room,” Cousins said. “I believe everyone believes we should be a lot better than we are and we’re just frustrated that we’re not. We haven’t performed to the level of expectations, so there’s a lot of frustration with that.”
This is hardly surprising. Cousins is right when he says that the Kings should be better than they are. They have an All-Star in Cousins, an elite point guard in Rajon Rondo, a go-to scoring wing in Rudy Gay, and shooters in Omri Casspi, Marco Belinelli, and Ben McLemore. They have the pieces to be better than the 25-40 team that they are. Any team that has under-performed as the Kings have is bound to have frustrated players. Players want to win, so why wouldn’t they be frustrated with losing?
