DeMarcus Cousins On Making The All-Star Team: “It Is What It Is”
There’s plenty reason to believe that DeMarcus Cousins might be able to make his first NBA All-Star appearance in his fifth season with the Sacramento Kings.
Cousins has been acknowledged as one of the budding young centers in the league, with a skill set that has allowed him to show spurts of his potential dominance this season. The big issues with Cousins thus far have been his maturity and attitude. His antics and demeanor have shed a negative stigma on his young career. As the All-Star break approaches, in which voting is now open, it’s of course on the coaches to cast their votes for the reserves. Even though Cousins is fully eligible, and now has his best chance of being an All-Star, he doesn’t seem too pressed about the opportunity.
Via Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee:
“DeMarcus is a great player in this league,” Kings head coach Tyrone Corbin said. “He certainly has demonstrated, in my opinion, he deserves to be considered one of the best big men in the league.”
Cousins entered the game averaging 23.8 points and 12.3 rebounds. He’d be in the top five in the league in both categories if he hadn’t missed 11 games because of illness. …
“To be totally honest, it is what it is,” Cousins said. “If I make it, I make it. If I don’t, I don’t.”
Consider the depth of talent and popularity in the Western Conference and you might see a scenario where Cousins doesn’t make this year’s All-Star team. But according to Boogie he won’t be losing any sleep over it.
