Sacramento Kings’ center DeMarcus Cousins just finished off what was a career season for him. While his team struggled throughout the year (33-49, missed the Playoffs), Cousins averaged a career-best 26.9 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game.
While his team’s season may have been a disappointment, Cousins certainly hasn’t forgotten about where basketball starts becoming serious: High School. Florin High School, a Sacramento based school, was fortunate enough to be the recipient of a $5,000 donation from Demarcus Cousins.

Cousins, in the midst of a four-year extension signed in 2013 that is worth approximately $66,000,000, certainly has money to spend. Regardless, how many athletes do you see doing something like this?
The popular thought has DeMarcus Cousins viewed as a bad guy. Aside from clashing with respected former head coach George Karl, Cousins is constantly frowned upon for his arguing and involvement in scuffles. In his six-year career, Cousins has piled up a total of 90 technical fouls, with a season-high 17 happening this season alone.
While Cousins might not exactly be loved on the court, he appears to be somewhat different off of it. Donating shoes and money to local charities, buying his family a luxurious new car, and now donating $5000 to a Sacramento High School. Hey, maybe Cousins isn’t as bad as you may think.
