For years now, there has been reported tension between the Sacramento Kings and their star player. It makes sense; Cousins is one of the most talented players in the world, yet he’s on a team that consistently wins around 30 games each year. Being put in that situation, which is exacerbated by the Kings’ poor management. However, Cousins tells ESPN’s Marc Stein that he is happy in Sacramento:
“I talk to management a lot,” Cousins told ESPN.com. “We’re on the same page. I’m not worried about it.
“To know that you’re wanted throughout the league … I’d be worried if nobody wanted me. Then I’d have a situation on my hands. But I’m happy where I am. I’m happy with this team. I’m in a great place.”
When asked what he doesn’t like about Sacramento, he responded with: “We’re not winning.”
Things are undoubtedly better for Cousins now that Dave Joerger has taken over as head coach; Cousins and George Karl had well-documented issues. However, if Cousins is really as content as he says he is, I would be surprised. Stockholm syndrome, anyone?
