The Sacramento Kings finished the 2015-16 campaign with the most wins in the DeMarcus Cousins era. Since he was drafted in 2010, the Kings have not won more than 30 games in a season and in 2015-16, they finished with 33 victories. It’s an improvement, right?
Their season came to an end and almost immediately they moved on from head coach George Karl, relieving him of his duties and beginning a search for their sixth coach in the last seven years.
With Karl exiting, it may mean the end of any drama between DeMarcus Cousins and general manager Vlade Divac. Through trade rumors, suspensions and rough play, it has been Divac who has had Cousins’ back and now Vlade appears to have his in return.
Cousins recently spoke to reporters after attending an event at a local Sacramento High School where he donated money to a local high school.
If Cousins and Divac are indeed on the same page and Kings owner Vivek Ranadive would keep his nose out of basketball operations, then maybe the Kings get something going in their search for a new coach. It’s going to be a hard sell after the atrocious season the Kings had this year both on the court and off but there is still one draw. The talent of DeMarcus Cousins, in the right hands, could present future success.
