Raptors guard, DeMar DeRozan has been out almost 6 weeks with a groin injury, but isn’t just yet ready to return. DeRozan said his injury has fully healed but he’d like to have the opportunity to participate in a few practices before returning to action.
“I owe that to (my teammates) not to just jump back in a game” he said after Wednesday’s practice.
DeRozan was set to return tonight against the Charlotte Hornets but says he hopes to return next week. One of the games he is targeting is Jan. 16 against the Atlanta Hawks.
The Atlanta Hawks are on a roll taking over the first seed which was held by the Raptors for 61 consecutive days. The Hawks have won recent games against the Blazers, Grizzlies and the Clippers surprising a lot of people lately.
“No pain, feel great,” said DeRozan. DeRozan has averaged 19.4 points and 4.2 rebounds this season.
The Raptors look to get back on track after a mediocre 6 game road trip, finishing 2-4. The Raptors should be energized on the defensive end after allowing more than 120+ points against both Warriors and Suns to end their 6 game road trip which many say the Raptors were “Exposed” on this trip.
Check out the Raptors take on the Hornets tomorrow night at 7:30 ET. I’d also like to congratulate Kyle Lowry on winning Player of the month for the month of December.
