As a free agent this summer, things could get interesting for DeAndre Jordan.
The NBA free agency pool is loaded with potential this summer. Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan is one of many names slated to explore the possibilities of free agency.
Jordan has become a staple for the Clippers, particularly alongside Blake Griffin as a frontcourt mate. At this point it would be a little hard to imagine Jordan alley-ooping for any other team, but as he told USA TODAY Sports’ Sam Amick in a recent podcast, he’s looking forward to being a free agent just as much as the next guy:
“I mean I’ve obviously been here seven years, and the past two have been great,” he said. “Doc (Clippers coach Doc Rivers) has been my biggest supporter and the best coach I’ve ever had. The team is great. The guys are great. We have great camaraderie. But the free agency process is definitely going to be a fun one.”
No doubt Jordan’s services will be pursued by multiple teams this summer, and he’ll have his chance to cash in and perhaps even make a needed change of scenery. He’s had a spectacular season, especially as of late in the midst of Blake Griffin’s absence. Doc Rivers thinks Jordan is the Defensive Player of the Year this season. He also thought Jordan was worthy of being an All-Star.
As a free agent this summer Jordan will have an opportunity to bring his impact talents to a team who needs an impressive interior presence along with a solid pick and roll guy who creates a problem for any defender.
