Los Angeles Clippers’ center DeAndre Jordan is in the last year of his contract. It remains to be seen whether or not the Clips will offer Jordan a max contract, or if he will go elsewhere.
DeAndre is coming off a phenomenal season in which he led the league in both rebounds(15 per game) and field goal percentage(71%). Both of those numbers are incredible. He’s also established himself as one of the better rim protectors in the league, averaging 2.2 blocks per game after averaging 2.5 the season before.
If he doesn’t resign with the Clippers, DeAndre will have plenty of other suitors. One of these suitors will likely be the Dallas Mavericks.
Following from ESPNDallas.com’s Tim MacMahon,
“Another potential prize summer target for the Mavs: Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, who multiple sources say has made it clear through back channels that he will be extremely interested in coming to Dallas. Signing the 26-year-old Jordan, a dominant physical force who led the league in rebounding and field-goal percentage this season, would mean letting the 32-year-old Chandler leave again after another one-season stint with the Mavs.”
When asked about his future in Dallas, Tyson Chandler told MacMahon:
“‘That’s up to management and what they decide to do,’ Chandler said of his possible future in Dallas as he enters free agency, adding that his preference would be to return to the Mavs.”
DeAndre Jordan is a game-changer defensively, and although currently his offensive repertoire consists of mainly dunks, he’s only 26 years old and has room to grow.
