Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins gave his rookie quarterback high praise. Deshaun Watson reminded me of a Dak Prescott or Russell Wilson coming out of the draft process but Hopkins had a different name in mind. Is Watson the next Michael Vick?
“I saw him do it in college, but this is the NFL,” Hopkins told the Houston Chronicle. “So, of course I’m impressed. I haven’t seen a quarterback do that in a long time besides Michael Vick. Of course, everybody in this locker room is impressed.”
He added: “A lot of improvement. You guys seen last week’s game. It speaks for itself what he does out there on the field.”
Watson is currently 1-1 in two starts but should have won a week ago against the Patriots. Watson threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns against the Patriots. With Andrew Luck still on the shelf, Watson could conceivably be the best quarterback in the division.
Hopkins has been the beneficiary of Watson getting the starting nod. He’s had 7 catches in three straight weeks. After catching just four touchdowns in 2016, that number figures to go up in 2017 as the Texans finally have a franchise quarterback. Houston is set to take on the Titans this upcoming week.
