Kentucky freshman De’Aaron Fox will hire an agent and enter the 2017 NBA Draft, reports Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports.
Fox, who has yet to announce his intentions, seemingly responded to this report on Twitter:
Fox has since deleted that tweet.
In his freshman season for Kentucky, Fox averaged 16.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 47.9 percent from the floor. Not a consistent outside shooter, Fox shot just 24.6 percent on 1.9 three-point attempts per game.
Kentucky suffered a narrow loss to North Carolina in the Elite Eight on Mar. 26. A video of Fox breaking down in tears following the loss went viral.
Def Pen’s most recent mock draft has Fox going eighth overall, two spots ahead of fellow Wildcat Malik Monk.
In a class full of top-tier guards (Markelle Fultz, Lonzo Ball, Dennis Smith Jr., Frank Ntilikina, Monk), it says a lot about Fox’s skill and potential that he is so highly valued.
In the Sweet 16, Fox put on a show against UCLA’s Lonzo Ball, scoring a career-high 39 points on 13-20 shooting.
In four NCAA Tournament games, Fox averaged 21.3 points per game.
