David West recently opted out of his contract with the Indiana Pacers and will test the free agency. As soon as he opted out the New York Knicks were an immediate option for him. According to Jared Zwerling, the Knicks will likely sign West:
League source: David West is "very likely" to sign with the Knicks come FA. "He knew that before he chose not to opt in" with the Pacers.

West was born in New Jersey, so it means he’s going close enough to home without going to Brooklyn. The Knicks recently drafted Kristaps Porzingis, which means they’re pretty full at the forward position. West would be a good fit for a Knicks team that is lacking any depth or veteran presence in their locker room. With West, Porzingis, Melo and hopefully a couple more moves in the off-season, the Knicks are starting to move in the right direction to become an NBA team again. We’ve also heard that Roy Hibbert is a player the Pacers are looking to trade, could the Pacers potentially package a deal for Hibbert and West in a sign and trade effort to at least get something from the Knicks? Only the off-season will tell.
