West’s NBA career lasted 15 years, during which he spent time with the New Orleans Hornets, Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors.
West won two championships with the Warriors. He also had a decorated collegiate career for Xavier University and was named the AP National Player of the Year and was the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year three times. His number 30 jersey has been retired by Xavier.
As an NBA player, West averaged 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game on 49.5 percent shooting. In his two All-Star seasons for the Hornets – 2006-07 and 2007-08 – he averaged more than 20 points and over eight rebounds per game.
West contemplated retirement after the 2014-15 season but decided to persevere in the hopes of winning a championship. Of course, he succeeded in that effort twice.
The Warriors added DeMarcus Cousins this offseason, but lost JaVale McGee to the Los Angeles Lakers and Zaza Pachulia to the Detroit Pistons. The team may be lacking in big-man depth, especially witgh Cousins expected to miss significant time.
Outside of Cousins, the only bigs left in Golden State are Draymond Green, Jordan Bell, Kevon Looney and Damian Jones.
