You want a guy like David Lee on the team. He’s a veteran guy who’s willing to anything for the good of the team, and still contribute at a high level, and apparently he’s a very generous dude too.
In an interview with GQ Australia, Warriors center Andrew Bogut recalls the week following Golden State’s NBA Finals victory, which tells the story of David “Daddy Warbucks” Lee.
“We won on a Tuesday night. There was nothing on in Cleveland,” he said. “We partied at a steakhouse until 5 a.m. It was a Morton’s, which is a chain restaurant over there. A few days later, after the parade back in Oakland, we took a 3 o’clock charter flight to Vegas. Players only.”
Bogut was then asked who “footed the bill?”
“David Lee,” Bogut said. “He was nice to do that. We could bring plus two or three I had a couple of Aussie mates tag along. It was the craziest party you’ll ever see.”
The craziest party you’ll ever see? Who actually saw it because I sure didn’t. So until I see proof Bogut, you’re just lying. Also, why is David Lee paying for everybody? He barely played at all during the playoffs, injury or no injury. Steph Curry was the league MVP, Iggy was the Finals MVP, why is the 8th man off the bench being so nice?
Then how does the team reward their generous champion? They trade him to the Celtics for some nobody players. Yes I know David Lee wanted to be traded, and with the emergence of Draymond Green, we knew his playing time was scarce in Golden State.
Still though is it David Lee’s job, a role player on the Warriors to be so generous, Or am I just really jealous? It’s probably the latter.
