Warrior’s power forward David Lee went through his first complete practice since re-injuring his left hamstring on Nov. 5 and will be active Monday night against the Sacramento Kings. Lee has missed all but six minutes of the season since re-injuring his left hamstring.
“He looked good, he was moving really well, his hamstring’s fine,” said coach Steve Kerr. “He told me everything else is sore now, which is a good sign. He’s getting back into basketball shape and running a lot of sprints. But this was the first time he’s scrimmaged full court, which was a good step.”
Draymond Green gave his input on Lee’s comeback: “He looked like D. Lee,” Green said. “Whenever he’s been out, he usually doesn’t miss a beat. He looked like himself.”
Lee’s return will decline Draymond Green’s minutes, who has been playing more than 40 per game since Andrew Bogut went out with an injury. Bogut has been out with a right knee injury and did not practice with the Warriors today. Kerr said it’s too early to tell how the big man, who is expected to miss at least two more weeks of action, has responded to the platelet rich plasma treatment he had on Thursday. In 20 games this season Bogut has averaged 7.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks.
The Warriors have been amazing this season sitting atop of the Western Conference with a 22-3 record, also going on a 16 game winning streak. It’s very surprising how good they have been without both Lee and Bogut. The Warriors are 9-1 in their past 10 games only suffering a lost from the hands of the Memphis Grizzles who ended their 16 game winning streak.
The Warriors were able to win a lot of games at the beginning of the season without both Lee and Bogut but when late April approaches, they’ll need them more than ever.
