David Fincher has dropped out of the upcoming movie based on the late Apple CEO, Steve Jobs.
The director was to take control of the film, but had a disagreement with Sony Pictures over compensation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Fincher wanted $10 million up front, as well as power over marketing decisions. Reports also say that Fincher had Sony make metal one-sheet materials to promote the film which cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars to create.
When Sony disagreed on the compensation, Fincher dropped from the project.
Fincher did have a strong say on the marketing involved in Sony’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in 2011, but sources say the fee he wanted for the Steve Jobs picture is too high for an un-commercial film.
The film is based on Walter Isaacson’s biography of Jobs, which covered the final years of his life.
Sony purchased film rights to the project back in October 2011, weeks after Jobs passed away from pancreatic cancer.
