Head Coach Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats have picked up the commitment of 2024 top 20 Recruit and top five combo guard David Castillo. The likely “one and done” guard will play for the Wildcats during the 2024-25 college basketball season and then likely set his eyes on the 2025 NBA Draft. While he did not have a final list, the other two programs that were considered favorites with Kansas State were the Kansas Jayhawks and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Wildcats add the talented five-star guard who should be an immediate impact player his freshman season.

The commitment of five-star combo guard David Castillo is a major one for the Kansas State Wildcats. Head Coach Jerome Tang has impressed early in his career with the program as a coach, and now he is making a major splash as a high school recruiter. Building sustained success in the Big 12 can be difficult, but this is the right direction in the recruiting process. For now, Castillo is the only recruit committed to the program in the 2024 high school basketball recruiting class. That will almost certainly change in the coming months as that class continues to commit to programs. He could likely stay as the headliner of that class for Kansas State.
