Even though the Green Bay Packers would lose a 34-27 heartbreaker to the Philadelphia Eagles on this week’s edition of Thursday Night Football, a lot of the attention post-game was directed towards the health of star wide receiver Davante Adams.
Adams turned in a stellar performance, racking up 10 catches for 180 yards, but was forced out of the game late in the fourth quarter with an apparent toe injury. Adams would not return for the Packers’ crucial final drive which was capped off by an Aaron Rodgers interception at the goal line. Adams was visibly in pain on the sideline and said following the game that he was dealing with a turf toe injury.
However, after undergoing an MRI on his banged-up toe later in the week, the Packers received some positive news on his status. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Adams is dealing with a strained ligament in his toe and isn’t expected to be sidelined for long.

In fact, based on the report, it’s not even a guarantee whether Davante Adams will miss a single game. Adams and the Packers have a long ten days to recover before their Week 5 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys.
Though it wouldn’t be surprising if Adams did end up missing Week 5, that would likely be the extent of his absence. This is a relief to the Packers and their fans who thought they would be down their top weapon for multiple weeks.
We’ve seen turf toe derail NFL seasons for players in the past before, especially when it comes to wide receivers who need that elite foot quickness in and out of their routes. In 2014, we saw AJ Green in a walking boot and on the sidelines for three contests due to his turf toe injury.
Thankfully, Adams avoided hampering his toe to that extent. Still, as one of the league’s refined route runners, the Packers will make sure he’s 100% good to go before inserting him back into the lineup. The Packers looked incredibly flat on offense late in the game without Adams out there and they can’t afford to not have his services down the stretch. If Adams does miss Week 5 against Dallas, expect tight end Jimmy Graham and wideouts Marquez Valdez-Scantling and Geronimo Allison to be even more involved than usual.
