The Houston Rockets are still frustrating. I don’t care what seed they are. Whether they leapfrog a injury-plagued Memphis or not, I expected way more from this team.
I expected Houston to be top 4 in the league. They have not done that, instead there has been shrouded snaking and some of the ugliest on-court defence I have seen.
Dwight Howard will most likely leave, we know this. But Rockets GM Daryl Morey wants to be shrouded. Which is why, when Jackie MacMullan asked Daryl Morey a question about Dwight Howard, he dipped.
During the front office panel, ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan, who was moderating, asked Morey about re-signing Dwight Howard. Morey immediately replied: “Uh oh.” MacMullan pressed the Rockets GM on negotiations. He responded that the NBA’s max salary threshold keeps things simple. MacMullan asked, So you’re re-signing him? To which Morey responded: “I just said they had the concept.”
Look, Daryl. Why you hiding? Hiding it gives me a reason to write this particular post. Just say the cliché “we’d love to have him back”. Now of course we don’t know the particular question Jackie Mac asked, but there are always ways to spin it. He just basically hamstrung himself.
