Former NFL safety Darren Sharper has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for drugging and raping up to 16 women.
He pleaded guilty last year multiple times to charges of rape. The previous sentence was nine years in prison, but Judge Jane Triche Milazzo overruled it in June.
Sharper has been in jail since February of 2014, which is when he was arrested in Los Angeles due to the first rape allegations.
Sharper, who is now 40, spent 14 seasons in the NFL. Over these years, he played with the Packers, Vikings and Saints. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and made the All-Pro team twice. Prior to his arrest, he was an analyst on NFL Network.
