The Sacramento Kings have just announced that point guard Darren Collison will be out indefinitely with a hamstring strain that he suffered in Friday’s game versus the Houston Rockets.
According to this official media release from NBA.com:
An MRI performed today at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento confirmed that Kings guard Darren Collison sustained a left hamstring strain in the second quarter of last night’s contest against the Houston Rockets.
He will miss Monday’s game versus the San Antonio Spurs and be listed as day to day going forward.
Collison is a great backup to Rajon Rondo and the Kings are playing this correctly by letting him go day-to-day compared to scheduling a return date. Collison is averaging 15.8 points and 5.2 assists in about 30mpg so far this season.
The Kings recently lost all-star Demarcus Cousins due to a strained Achilles and have fell to a sorry 1-6 record. Look for Rajon Rondo and Rudy Gay to step up more with two of their important teammates on the sidelines. Hopefully the Kings can stay healthy after these two return, because Kings fans are expecting them to compete for a playoff spot.
