
D’Arcy Carden and Ken Jeong will team up to announce the nominations for the 71st Emmy Awards. The announcement ceremony will take place on Tuesday, July 16th at the Academy’s Wolf Theatre at the Saban Media Center in North Hollywood. This year’s announcement ceremony will air on select television outlets and stream on Emmys.com. Alongside Carden and Jeong, TV Academy Chairman and CEO Frank Scherma will appear in the announcement broadcast.
Carden is has appeared in The Good Place and Barry. Jeong is an actor and comedian best known for his appearances in The Hangover, The Hangover Part III, Dr. Ken and Crazy Rich Asians.
In a statement, Scherma said, “Television is the world’s premier entertainment choice and the global reach of U.S. television programming is immediate and impactful thanks to networks, channels, platforms and delivery systems that continue to grow.” He added, “We are thrilled to have these two comedic talents join us to announce this year’s Emmy nominees — programs and individuals whose excellent work is reshaping the television landscape.”
This year, Game of Thrones, When They See Us, True Detective and more expect to lead the field. Unfortunately, shows like The Handmaid’s Tale and Big Little Lies are airing outside of this year’s eligibility window. Check back on July 16th for the full list of nominations for the 71st Emmy Awards.
