From 2012-2014, the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat had a rivalry brewing that many people were excited to watch. The superstar squad from South Beach featured LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and a crew of veterans who didn’t take kindly to losing or disrespect. The Indiana Pacers were led by budding star Paul George, veterans Danny Granger, David West, big man Roy Hibbert and a young, often controversial guard in Lance Stephenson.
The rivalry came to a fever pitch in 2014 when Lance Stephenson famously blew in the ear of LeBron during the 2014 playoffs but before the issue between the two reached this level, there was a moment where Lance was put through hell, courtesy of the Heat ‘enforcers’.
In 2012, with Lance Stephenson as a rookie and the hate for LeBron James at an all-time high, ‘The King’ went to the line to shoot free throws at a pivotal moment in the game. As LeBron shot, the rookie signaled a choking sign towards the superstar. It’s something that numerous Heat players didn’t appreciate. Former Heat prospect Dexter Pittman took his anger out on Stephenson on the court and veteran Juwan Howard actually approached Lance before the next game.
But now, newly retired forward Danny Granger told a story about a trio of Heat players actually came to the Pacers locker room looking for the rookie.
