Danny Ainge has been lauded for his success in leading the Celtics organization, serving in an executive capacity in Boston since 2003 and being promoted to President of Basketball Operations in 2008, the same year he won the NBA’s Executive of the Year Award. Ainge’s tenure has been highlighted by the Celtics’ acquisitions of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to form the “Big 3” with Paul Pierce, the trade which saw the Celtics part ways with Pierce and Garnett in a package that included three first-round draft picks, and the trade in which the Celtics obtained Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
