Daniel Radcliffe has finally admitted to finding the early Harry Potter films ‘hard to watch.’
The actor – who played young Harry in the franchise- said that his performances in earlier installments of the series lacked “nuance.”
Speaking to Melvyn Bragg on The South Bank Show, Radcliffe said:
“If we had a singing scene, we had a singing teacher come in. If we had a dance scene, a dance coach would come in.
We never had an acting coach in all the time we were there and there were times we could have done with one. I know I could have.
There wasn’t a lot of nuance to my performance when we were young and I find those early films very hard to watch personally.
There were certain things that I just didn’t know. There were certain things like how to break down a script, or even certain questions like what does a certain character want out of a certain scene.”
Radclliffe previously revealed that he considered quitting the series after starring in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Meanwhile, he has also confessed to drinking heavily to cope with the pressures of fame that came with playing Harry.
Daniel Radcliffe’s full interview with Melvyn Bragg airs on The South Bank Show on Thursday (June 26) at 9.30pm on Sky Arts 1.
