Heavyweight contender Daniel Dubois was seemingly on the road to a title shot when he ran into a buzzsaw named Joe Joyce in November 2020. Despite being favored, Dubois was battered by Joe Joyce’s jab round after round before being stopped in the 10th. Shell shocked by the loss, Dubois went back to the drawing board and put together a plan to regain his momentum in the ring.
Dubois began his redemption campaign against Bogdan Dinu, the thrid ranked heavyweight by the WBA. Returning to form, he stopped Dinu in the second round at the Telford International Centre in June. Two months later, Dubois made his presence felt in his first US fight. Fighting on the main card of the Jake Paul-Tyron Woodley fight, Dubois ran through his latest opponent, Joe Cusumano. He put Cusumano down three times in the first round before the referee stopped the fight.
After his most recent victory, Dubois told Ariel Helwani that he was looking for a championship belt in his next fight. Specifically, he seeks a matchup with WBA Heavyweight Champion Trevor Bryan.
