
Brooklyn Nets guard D’Angelo Russell has reportedly been cited for marijuana possession while at New York’s LaGuardia Airport Wednesday night. As reported by A. J. Perez of USA TODAY, Russell was caught with the marijuana in a secret compartment of a fake Arizona iced tea can. From Perez’s report:
Russell received a summons to appear in court for marijuana possession of less than 50 grams, according to the Port Authority spokesperson. The citation Russell received is a violation under New York law and is punishable by a fine of $100 or less.

Russell is coming off of a career year for the Nets, averaging 21.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, making his first All-Star appearance. With the former Ohio State Buckeye orchestrating for his team, Brooklyn held a record of 42-40 this season, holding the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference before falling to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the Playoffs.
