Two of the Lakers premiere key young talents, D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle, are crafty lefties at guard and forward. Russell, this year’s No. 2 overall draft pick, was a commodity after just one season at Ohio State for elite guard skills and a heightened awareness for the game. Plays like these highlight that awareness.
Only so many players can actually pull this move off, especially after going the length of the floor in transition with a defender riding you the whole way. But Russell catches Warriors defender Ian Clark during the first quarter of their preseason matchup tonight. A smooth wraparound by Russell, but not quite living up to another Laker’s version of it.
