It’s safe to say Damian Lillard was a legitimate snub for the USA team that is gearing up for Spain. But according to SLAMonline, if any injury occurs during the FIBA World Cup, Damian Lillard will be the first injury replacement.
“He’s the player on deck,” we’re told.
Lillard expressed to Jerry Colangelo, director of USA Basketball, his desire to be a part of Team USA in Spain and said he would rejoin the team if his services are indeed needed, the source said. […] “It’s something we did discuss with Damian,” Colangelo confirmed. “We’ll see what happens.”
With Curry, Rose and Kyrie already in the mix, if a forward or big man gets injured, the team would have to do a lot of “small ball” but hopefully no injuries will occur.
