The Washington Wizards defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 125-124 Saturday night, but not without there being some controversy around it. Down by one, Wizards’ forward Markieff Morris caught the ball in the corner, pumped once, took one dribble and pulled up for the apparent game-winning basket with 0.4 remaining.
After a closer examination of the play, it showed that once Morris took his dribble his foot was on the out of bounds line. However, the out of bounds call was not made on the floor, therefore, the referees could not reverse the basket because the play was not reviewable.
This led to much outrage and confusion amongst fans and Blazers players alike. One player that took exception to the controversial non-call was point guard Damian Lillard. Watch below as Lillard fields question’s and gives his opinion on the matter.

Lillard was essentially the voice of a whole city and made his frustrations clear with the way the game ended. Hopefully, the NBA can learn from this situation and either improve their review process or further clarify the process at hand.
