Veteran center Samuel Dalembert was one of four players waived by the Dallas Mavericks as they make final cuts before the start of the season, the team announced in a press release.
The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have requested waivers on Sam Dalembert,Brandon Ashley, Tu Holloway and Jamil Wilson.
Dalembert (6-11, 250) played in four games (one start) this preseason and averaged 4.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 12.8 minutes. He missed the final three games of the exhibition season with a left leg injury.
Dalembert, who would be playing in his 14th NBA season, was on a fully guaranteed deal with the team. He agreed to a one-year deal with the Mavs in July after clearing waivers and becoming an unrestricted free agent. Dalembert spent last season with the New York Knicks, averaging 4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
The departure of Dalembert nearly solidifies JaVale McGee as the Mav’s primary option at the center position. McGee was signed to a two-year deal as compensation for what was lost in DeAndre Jordan.
