After weeks of speculation, the lead role in the upcoming movie adaptation of ’50 Shades of Grey’ has finally been cast. Dakota Johnson has accepted the role to play an innocent college graduate Anastasia Steele.
Writer E.L. James confirmed the information via Twitter.
I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Johnson is best known for her role on the Fox sitcom ‘Ben and Kate’.
The role of her wealthy love interest, Christian Grey, has yet to be cast but the rumor mill has suggested names such as Garrett Hedlund, Ian Somerhalder, and Ryan Gosling.
’50 Shades of Grey’ will be released on August 1, 2014.
