Anticipation is climbing as the calendar inches closer to Saturday, July 29. On a steamy Saturday evening, WBO Welterweight Champion Terence Crawford will challenge unified Errol Spence Jr. to a fight for the undisputed welterweight title.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. I can’t wait until Saturday to get it on,” Crawford said leading up to the fight.
Errol Spence Jr. represents a new challenge for Crawford. The unbeaten champion has never fought a pound-for-pound talent with multiple world titles like Spence Jr. With a win, he would likely top most, if not all, major pound-for-pound lists. In addition, a victory would cement his place in men’s boxing history as the first male boxer to claim undisputed world titles in two divisions during the four-belt era.
“It means everything,” Crawford said when asked what this fight will mean for his career.
“This is gonna put the cherry on top of my career.”
Crawford will have the opportunity to put the final cherry atop his International Boxing Hall of Fame career when he leaves Las Vegas this weekend. Will he do it? Only time will tell.
