Craig Hunegs has informed Disney that he will walk away from his current role as television entertainment president. Hunegs walks away as the company undergoes serious restructuring efforts. With the company shifting its efforts toward its streaming platform, Hunegs role has significantly changed in recent months. As a result, he has opted to look for new opportunities elsewhere.
“Craig Hunegs has decided to step down as President, Entertainment, Walt Disney Television. With the reorganization at our company, his responsibilities have changed and his new role is no longer the one he joined The Walt Disney Company to pursue,” Walt Disney TV Entertainment Chairwoman Dana Walden wrote in a memo to staff.
“I am grateful for Craig’s contributions to our success and he is leaving at a time of great strength for our organization. He has been a trusted and valued colleague to me and to so many of us, and he will be missed.”
Disney has indicated that it is currently searching for a successor, but has not yet identified a frontrunner just yet. No interim replacement has been announced yet.
