Todd Gurley and the Rams lives got a heck of a lot easier after Sean Lee was ruled out today. Lee is the leader of that Dallas Cowboys defense but will miss Sunday’s action against the Rams. Lee was questionable going into Sunday but his hamstring has made him unable to play.
Cowboys beat writer Todd Archer was the first to report the news:
“The Cowboys will be without linebacker Sean Lee today against the Los Angeles Rams, according to a source. He did not practice all week because of a hamstring strain and was listed as questionable. Veteran Justin Durant should replace Lee in the starting lineup.”
Lee leads the NFL in tackles playing that outside linebacker spot in Rod Marinelli’s defense. With Justin Durant inserted in his place, Jaylen Smith and Damien Wilson will fill out the rest of the starting linebackers. Durant has had solid playing time thus far spelling Jaylen Smith as he isn’t 100 percent yet from that knee injury.
The rest of that Cowboys defense will have to step up in a big way. Todd Gurley is coming off a 113 yard, 3 touchdown game against the 49ers. Jared Goff is also coming off a big game where Dallas’ secondary already lost four starters from this past offseason. Dallas is coming into this game as big favorites, but face a much tougher task without their best defender on the field.
