The Dallas Cowboys seem determined to move on from Tony Romo this offseason. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports recently spoke to a few executives to find out what Romo’s trade value was.
“Consensus among a few personnel guys I trust is that the Cowboys can get at least a third-round pick for Tony Romo, and possibly one that moves to a second-round pick based on Romo’s playing time and ability to stay healthy.”
The incentives make a ton of sense given the fact that Romo has a ton of injury history. Think about it, If the Eagles can get a 1st and a 4th for Sam Bradford, Dallas should be able to find a nice package for Romo. With Dallas only freeing up $5 million by releasing Romo, there really is no urgency to just cut him outright considering you won’t save a lot of money.
Earlier this offseason we found out the list of suitors Romo could have this offseason. Right now there doesn’t appear to be a contending team willing to trade for Romo but the urgency could start to set in once free agency starts.
