The Baltimore Ravens wide receiving core is in complete shambles. With this is in mind it begs the question of whether Baltimore will consider adding fan favorite Anquan Boldin to the receiving depth during training camp? Let’s take a look at why or why not this may happen.
Why A Reunion Makes A Ton of Sense:
Veteran wide out Steve Smith is coming a torn Achilles, former first round pick Breshad Perriman is in danger of missing the 2016 season due to a partially torn ACL, and Michael Campanaro has dealt with serious calf injuries all offseason. Is there any reason to say more? Let’s not forget the Ravens did sign Mike Wallace but at this stage of his career it is likely he doesn’t contribute. Baltimore also failed to address the need during the NFL Draft wasting a 4th round pick on Chris Moore who best case scenario is nothing more than a one-trick pony deep threat option.
Sure Boldin didn’t have a great 2015 season, but who did on that dumpster fire 49er team? The only real dependable option is Kamar Aiken who most of the people reading this have never heard of. If Boldin fails in reality it is a no harm no foul kind of deal where he can easily be released prior to the season. The reasons for at least bringing him in for a visit only makes sense. Boldin of course was a key cog for the Ravens Super Bowl team in 2012.
