This is a proud moment for me. The first ever Canadian Toronto Raptors point guard will be Corey Joseph. Former back-up guard for the San Antonio Spurs will presumably sign with the Raptors after playing with the Spurs, and winning a championship in 2014.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN:
ESPN sources say newly unrestricted free agent Cory Joseph is closing in on a deal with the Toronto Raptors

Corey Joseph also fills a need for the Toronto Raptors as their backup guard. Rookie prospect Delon Wright which was selected 20th overall is also a work in progress but Corey Joseph from Pickering, Ontario will be playing for the Raptors. Despite Masai Ujiri hinting that Andrew Wiggins will be the first big Canadian player to sign, Joseph fills a void. Next on the list is a starting Power Forward that can fill the void of Amir Johnson. They could start Patrick Patterson, but that doesn’t seem like a team that can do well in an improving Eastern Conference. Masai is doing a great job this off-season, one more deal that can secure a forward of the future for the Raptors will help them move into contention.
