Actors Corey Hawkins and Yahy Abdul-Mateen II will make their way back to the theater for a Broadway production of Topdog/Underdog. Hawkins and Mateen II will play the lead roles of Lincoln and Booth in the limited production.
Written by 2002 Pulitzer Prize Winner Suzan-Lori Parks, Topdog/Underdog tells the story of two brothers named Lincoln and Booth. With both brothers dealing with financial strains and relationship woes, the play follows along as the struggle to get by through hustling, honest work and much more.
“I’m so blessed that Topdog is back on Broadway,” playwright Suzan-Lori Parks said.
“What a beautiful opportunity to share this work with new audiences. And, wow, how many writers get to be here for a Broadway revival of their work? I’m grateful and thrilled. And doing the show with Kenny, Yahya and Corey — that’s icing on the gravy, baby!”
Directed by Kenny Leon, previews for the 16-week engagement will kick off on September 27, 2022 at Broadway’s John Golden Theatre and opening night is scheduled for October 20, 2022. Tickets for the star-studded production will go on sale June 20, 2022.
