THR reports that Common will star as one of the main villains in the sequel for John Wick, the 2014 Lionsgate film starring Keanu Reeves. Common’s character is said to be the security chief of a female crime lord.
The first Wick was about Reeves’ character, an ex-hitman who retires from killing and violence after losing his wife but is forced onto a new path of retribution when mobsters break into his house and kill the dog his wife bought him. More high-octane action is to be expected for the sequel, but the overall plot has yet to be revealed.
Chad Stahelski is directing, Basil Iwanyk is producing, and Wick 2 and is said to begin shooting this week.
Common is no stranger to the big screen. He was in Run All Night with Liam Neeson this year, he’s playing Tattooed Man in Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated Suicide Squad, set for release next August, and just wrapped up with Barbershop 3.
