The Colts gave up on Bjoern Werner today. NFL media insider Ian Rapoport announced his release.
The #Colts have waived former first-round pick LB Bjoern Werner. Expected but still, damn.

Werner was the 24th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. This past season Werner was inactive for most of the season so the news does not come as much of a surprise. The release will cost Indianapolis $1 million in dead money while freeing up $1.48 million.
Over the course of his three year career Werner has registered 77 tackles and 6.5 sacks. The Colts have been rumored to make a run at Ravens linebacker Courtney Upshaw as a corresponding move. It remains to be seen whether Werner will get another chance in the NFL.
