
Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee announced his retirement from the NFL on twitter. The 29-year old punter has made a name for himself, to say the least, and quickly became a fan favorite not only in the city of Indianapolis but the entire NFL. The 2-time pro bowler attached a note to his tweet explaining his retirement, and that he would be joining Barstool Sports after his NFL career.

The tweet mentioned that the punter had sat down with Colts owner Jim Irsay for a lengthy period to discuss his retirement, and was nothing short of supportive. McAfee identified the reason of his retirement being that already into his short NFL career, he was to undergo his 3rd knee surgery in 4 years. Although the punter is now retired, he will remain in Indianapolis at his own Barstool headquarters, per his request.
McAfee was in the midst of his 5-year $14.5 million contract signed back in 2014. Nonetheless, the punter was looking out for his health post his NFL career. Shortly after his announcement, the Barstool staff wasted no time in presenting the newest member of their team.
