In Sunday night’s matchup last week, 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick got tagged a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Why you ask? Inappriopriate language. Need Specifics? Ask Bears’ Defensive End, Lamarr Houston.
Reportedly, amongst other choice words, Kaepernick dropped the ever-so-controversial “N-Bomb”.
While Kaep insists that he said nothing “racially derogatory”, Houston maintains that Kaepernick was “saying inappropriate language”. When asked what exactly was said, Houston told the Tribune “it’s a cultural thing”.
In a day and age where almost everything needs to be approached with tremendous tact, this “N-Bomb” story will serve as ammunition for the folks in the “politically correct” camp. Should the NFL really monitor player language? Does it take away from the gusto that is the world’s most manly sport? Are we all hypersensitive to player behavior now? Kaepernick was fined 12,000 dollars for his poor use of language.
Traditional discourse would deem Kaepernick a heathen, and some will undoubtedly cry for a suspension.
