Clippers Spokesperson Hints At Blake Griffin’s Return This Weekend
There hasn’t been a set timetable on Blake Griffin’s return to the court after having surgery to remove a staph infection in his right elbow. Progress was reported recently in saying that Griffin was close, but it looks like the Clippers could really be getting their star forward back as early as Sunday.
From InsideSoCal.com’s Robert Morales:
A spokesman for the Clippers on Thursday told this newspaper it’s possible Blake Griffin could return Sunday when the Clippers host the Houston Rockets at Staples Center. If not, then Tuesday at home against the Charlotte Hornets would be the next opportunity.
In Griffin’s absence the Clippers have gone 9-5 with some impressive wins to keep themselves afloat in the West. Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan have carried the extra burden of leading the team on the floor. They’ve done it with great chemistry and the Clippers have successfully played the kind of basketball they like to play.
It’s always an interesting development when you take away a player of Griffin’s stature and watch how the team responds. It becomes that much more interesting when the team plays just as good, if not better without them, and then the player comes back and it’s another adjustment. If the Clippers are poised for any kind of run, it’s going to take Blake Griffin playing at his highest level when he returns, along with his teammates.
