Clippers Reportedly Close To Signing Chris Douglas-Roberts
Dan Woike of the Orange County Register confirms reports that the Los Angeles Clippers are nearing a deal with forward Hedo Turkoglu, and are also close to signing forward Chris Douglas-Roberts. The 27-year-old spent last season playing a defensive wing role for the Charlotte Bobcats.
In his five year tenure Douglas-Roberts has played with the New Jersey Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks, and Charlotte Bobcats. His emphasis is what the Clippers sorely lack in terms of a lengthy defender for wings like Kevin Durant, who abused Doc Rivers’ squad in the Western Conference semifinals. They brought in Danny Granger at the trade deadline to potentially fill that role. Granger is now with the Miami Heat.
Douglas-Roberts should at least have himself a defined role on this team.
The Clippers waived Carlos Delfino and Miroslav Raduljica right after trading Jared Dudley to the Milwaukee Bucks for them. Doc Rivers is also said to be trying to bring Ray Allen onto the roster.
