In a much anticipated game six, the Los Angeles Clippers prevail over the San Antonio Spurs, 102-96. Blake Griffin led the Clippers with 26 points, 12 boards and 6 assists, Chris Paul dropped 19 points and 15 assists. Spurs got an unusual form of Kawhi Leonard tonight who shot 3-15 to 12 points. he did contribute seven boards though. Marco Belinelli had an awesome game off the bench for the Spurs hitting seven threes, he was the leading Spurs scorer with 23.
In a do or die game the Clippers came through and lived to play at least one more game.
Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan got the first quarter started with a classic lob-city oop
Just like game 5 the Spurs and Clippers were going shot for shot with the Clippers extending their lead to 7 at one point in the period. As usual the Spurs stayed resilient and tied it up before the quarter ended at 26-26. Gregg Popovich went to Hack-A-DJ in the 2nd period where DJ did enough to help the game stay in balance. The score remained tied at the end of the half at 51-51.
Clippers started the 2nd half with a 11-2 run and Paul was able to break out of his first half shooting slump where he missed all eight of his attempts. He ended the quarter by splitting a double team, faking out the D then dishing it to Glen Davis for the easy bucket.
Paul kept the Clippers grooving in the fourth with his continued scoring and play-making. Big man Glen Davis left the game in a wheelchair early in the fourth with a ankle injury. Clippers diagnosed as a sprain but it looks like it could be an achilles injury considering how it happened.
Although Marco Belinelli hit a handful of clutch shots down the stretch Jamal Crawford hit his free throws and helped his team force a game 7.
Game seven takes place Saturday May 2, 8:00 pm ET on TNT.
