The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a training camp deal with free-agent Dorell Wright, Dan Woike of the OC Register reported Thursday afternoon.
Wright has spent the last two years playing overseas in China, and re-emerged onto the NBA scene this past Spring with the Miami Heat.
Wright was drafted by the Heat in 2004, and played for the team for six seasons. The Heat added him for frontcourt insurance, with All-Star forward Chris Bosh once again being sidelined due to a recurring blood clot issue.
Wright saw just 19 minutes of action across five games with Miami in the Playoffs, scoring 16 points and grabbing 6 rebounds in limited time.
Wright, a 6’9″ forward who possesses the ability to score inside and out, also providing solid play on the defensive side, has played for the Heat, Warriors, 76ers and Trail Blazers during his time in the league.
He holds career averages of 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in 22.4 minutes per contest, shooting a respectable 37% from behind the arc and 42% from the field.
The Clippers have 15 guaranteed contracts right now, meaning the chances of Wright making the regular season roster from camp are not high.
