Clippers Destroy Warriors In 40-Point Blowout Win 138-98; Series Tied 1-1
The Los Angeles Clippers showed why they were the highest offensive rated team in the NBA this season by overwhelming Golden State with 67 first half points and never looking back. Blake Griffin finished with 35 points and 6 rebounds on 13-17 shooting for the Clippers.
Golden State inherited the Clippers’ Game 1 foul trouble woes with Klay Thompson earning his third foul in the first quarter. Between Thompson’s absence and frequent turnovers (25 total) the Warriors never gained the offensive rhythm that put constant pressure on Los Angeles to defend in Game 1. Where Golden State usually builds their momentum was negated, shooting just 4-18 (22%) from three-point rage. The Clippers shot an outstanding 56% from the field and 48% from three (12-25).
Now that both of these teams have shown glimpses of their best basketball, we’ll see who adjusts accordingly for Game 3 in Golden State on Thursday night.
