The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly trying to make a move by the deadline and have multiple players in mind. Per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Cavs are interested in Atlanta’s Kyle Korver, and are considering New Orleans’ Omer Asik and Tyreke Evans.
Windhorst: I have heard the #Cavs have had interest in Kyle Korver as well. Hawks could be selling off pieces.

Windhorst: Tyreke Evans and Omer Asik are also some players on the #Cavs radar when it come to trades.

The addition of Korver and Evans are intriguing ones. Korver is one of the league’s premiere sharpshooters(though his long-range shooting has slipped this season), and Evans is a high-upside player, and is still quite young at 26 years old. Adding Asik feels pointless and redundant. They already have too many big men on their roster(Mozgov, Varejao, Love, Thompson) in a league that’s going small.
Korver could be nice for the Cavs if they can get him for cheap. He can provide spacing, which never hurts. They’d have to find a way to hide him on defense though. I don’t think you could play him and Kyrie together(zero defense), so a majority of his minutes would optimally be played next to Matthew Dellavedova, who is a solid defender at the least.
Tyreke Evans has been expected to break out and have an All-Star season pretty much every year of his career, ever since he won Rookie of the Year in 2009-10. Evans is averaging 15.2 points, 6.6 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per gem this season, and is shooting a career-high 38.8% from beyond the arc. If the Cavs can obtain Evans without giving up any of their main pieces, they should go for it. If nothing else, he’s a good starter who has the potential to get better. The only downside of acquiring Evans is that he has been a bit injury-prone throughout his career.
